Calling themselves the Uruk, Hobgoblin is a derogatory name first used by the Orcs, but adopted by many of the other races (though never said to their faces of course). For an Uruk, combat is life. They are ruthless and organised in battle, and no trick is below them if it will give them an advantage. The clan is lead by the strongest and smartest. Uruks are taught to fight from a young age, and the weak are killed off. If there is a dispute that can not be easily settled, it is decided by a duel to the death. Uruks only worry about the here and now, and have no belief in gods or spirits.
Uruk society is extremely patriarchal, with the females treated as slaves, useful only for reproduction and menial tasks. Most females are killed at birth. Occasionally an Uruk will give birth to mutants known as Bugbears, which are bigger and tougher, but much more stupid. These Bugbears are used for physical labour and also in combat, to soften up the enemy (while strong, the Bugbears lack the training and discipline of the Uruks, so don’t perform well in a group).
Uruks live in the Tuukhaar Plains to the South. Uruks see all other races as inferior, and have have no qualms with attacking others that enter their territory, however they have a particular hatred of the Orcs.
